   I hope this edition of our newsletter finds you well.   Fall is on it's way and with the changing leaves comes many changes in law enforcement.  One of the fastest changing areas is in the equipment that is now available.  Teresa and I recently attended the Taser Convention in Arizona to learn about many of their new products being offered, and this month I decided to write a feature article about the conference.  I hope you will enjoy it.     
    Also in this edition we will be offering a September special and a Fall Clearance Sale.  We have included several additional sections with information and updates we hope you will find helpful.  As always, we urge everyone to stay alert while you are on and off duty, and to stay vigilant in seeking out as much training as possible.

Review of TASER's 2009 Conference

The temperature stood at a blistering 111 degrees when we arrived at the hotel in Fort McDowell, Arizona. It was 7:00 PM (that is in the evening, where most places on the planet start to cool down) I had heard that it gets hot in the desert but this was just crazy hot!  The hotel was the location of the 2009 Taser Master Taser Conference and Distributor Summit. The heat was a sign of hot things to come.
The next day, Monday July 27, the conference got underway to a packed house, hundreds of law enforcement professionals from around the country had gathered to see what magic the Smith brothers and their incredible team had come out with now. I had been told that Taser was launching a new Taser but I had only been told 2 weeks earlier. They did an amazing job of keeping the lid on that one, and I am a distributor!
It was standing room only and we were fortunate to find a place to sit. The energy in the room was palatable and even though we arrived a day earlier for the Distributor Summit, I was surprised how motivated I was.  Rick and Tom Smith, the co-founders of TASER International, unveiled the multi-shot X3. By "multi-shot" I mean the X3 is loaded with three cartridges and carries them all at the same time. That is one more cartridge than most cops carry, even with a spare. This was Taser's first new handheld TASER ECD since 2003. As Rick Smith pointed out "up to this point what we had was an electric single shot musket". Good point, as technology has progressed at Taser International (and it has, trust me) they now have a multi shot ECD capable of firing three cartridges as fast as you can pull the trigger.

The Taser X3 was just one of the incredible products to arrive recently from Taser International. Also demonstrated was the Taser Shock Wave, a multi shot area deniable system. Taser XREP a shotgun fired round that fires a "Taser in a shell", 100 feet and wireless. And possibly the best product was the Taser AXON. This is an officer worn head-cam that is connected to an on person DVR. Like the Taser Cam, this unit can capture audio and video data the officer wishes to record. The possibilities of this device are endless, both in the law enforcement market and the civilian market.  I sometimes think I retired too early, I am missing out on these incredible toys!
The Taser X3, Shock Wave, XREP and new Mossberg X12 shotgun are available now. The X12 shotgun is one of Taser's newest concepts to fire the XREP round. The X12 is designed to only fire the XREP RL (rifled live) round. The base of the shell is "keyed" differently than a regular shotgun shell. The bolt head on the X12 shotgun is also keyed to the XREP RL. In other words, the X12 cannot fire a regular shot gun shell.
Also look for Evidence.com, as a revolutionary new way to store any digital evidence or any evidence that can be moved by computer. Evidence.com ties directly into the AXON system and is currently free for current X-26 Taser users as a place to store data.

After the opening of the conference, classes were divided up for the Master Instructor training. This year the Master Instructors had a lot to learn. For us Distributors, there was additional training as well and we spent several days in training learning about the new products. We are motivated as we move forward with this new technology. I see Taser poised to revolutionize law enforcement (again) especially with the AXON product.
Finally just a thought on the new Taser X3, don't let the price throw you. Technology changes. For example, are you still carrying the same cell phone you had 10 years ago? How about your desk top or lap top computer? 10 years is forever in the technology world. Cost is relevant to the change we rely on for devices that ensure safety.
